How Can We Help?

How can my iTC come to agreement since we seem to be targeting different functions with the same product?

Many times common products seem to be targeted to different audiences. This is where a use case focus can be beneficial. By describing high level use cases, the iTC can then review the use cases for overlap/commonality and divergence. It is likely that all products may target some common use case but then have differentiation beyond that. This differentiation can lead to additional documents, usually PP-Modules, that can accommodate these additional use cases on top of the common one. A good example here would be the firewall PP-Module that would be paired with a Network Device PP. While all firewalls may qualify as a network device, not all network devices will qualify as a firewall, so a use case focus here provides a common baseline and then the ability to split additional functionality in such a way that it can be added where it is applicable.

Use cases will be important in the definition of the Security Functional Requirements.
